Volunteer to teach at Hope Centre in Cambodia
Bruce and Diane Taylor have been in Stung Treng, Cambodia, for the opening of The Hope Centre, the new Asian Outreach training centre. One of the main things that Diane has been, and continues to be involved with, is the setting up of the English classes at the Centre. The first courses started at the end of January, with a beginners class and an intermediate class. The students are all mainly adults, with a few late teens, and 14 and 16 year old sisters. She has been able to help teach them and offer some input and PD for the teacher.
They are looking for more teachers to volunteer to spend time in Cambodia, - they are thinking that primary trained teachers are a good option, but teachers of all ages/levels could be great. The classes are run for an hour each per day, 5 days a week, and the course is for two terms - so they are halfway through the first course. Ideally, theywould love some people long term (one year) but any who are prepared to volunteer and teach for 3 - 6 months would be fantastic!
The Hope Centre Director is a NZ trained primary teacher, - she and her husband are living up in Stung Treng - been there for two years, so there is someone on the ground to give good direction and help where needed. Diane also keeps in close contact with them and helps with PD, suggestions etc.
